A Tribute to a Special Dog - Blue
It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to tell that Blue passed away on Saturday, February 21st. He went off his food on Monday the 16th. We were in Dr. Edick's office each of the following days for tests. In the end we did not know what was wrong with him. We felt that we did everything we could for him and though it all he showed no signs of distress.
Blue was such a joy to be around! He basically "saved" me from the city. Because of him, I meet so many nice people that love their dogs and spent so many hours in the most beautiful places hunting, training and participating in hunt tests. Everyone that hunted with him or saw him run in a hunt test said how "special" he was. More than a few people used the word "gifted". He was a legend. In his career he passed 43 AKC & NARHA Master hunt tests. He ran in two national retriever events, the NARHA Richard A. Wolters Invitational and the AKC Master National.
I always thought I was training him but he was teaching me how to enjoy life. He lives on through his son, Torbay's Blue Ridge MH. Blue was laid to rest, with his brothers Red & Buck, on the training grounds he loved so much near Wasco California. May he rest in peace.
